Cable Technician Davenport, IA Technical Skill + Construction + Landscaping + Data Center + Sports / Athletics + Carpentry + CAT, Fiber + Electric, Low Voltage Description: This position will work in commercial data center environments both outdoors and indoors. You will learn about the trade of cabling, where you will help large companies update phone, internet, security, and digital workplace infrastructure. This is a career. Shift & Pay: + 1st shift, will travel in a crew truck, DL Required + Monday-Friday, some Saturdays during peak seasons + $18-$22/hr, pending experience and certifications + 10 hour shifts, 40+ hours/week Overview: You will assist higher level technicians and team leads in building out data centers networks. You will be trained and expected to work independently in: + Pulling Cable/Fiber + Laying Fiber/Cable + Learning Color Codes + Punch down and termination + Installing cable trays and pathways + Building server racks Day-to-Day: + Learn to follow blueprints from supervisors direction. + Perform pre-termination procedures: organize, form, dress cables and determine length, slack and label cables. + Install grounding for racks, equipment and cable as required. + Terminate low-voltage devices. + Drop cable down a wall using fish tape or other method. + Install a work area outlet for floor (i.e. monument), and wall (i.e. box eliminator). + Route cable through data center. + Suspend and support cable correctly: Cable tray, J-hook, D-rings, Bridal rings, Trapeze. + Perform fire-stopping procedures on fire walls, install sleeves, pull cable through sleeves and core penetration Additional: + 2 years working in construction, telecommunications, or electrical + Lift up to 100lbs + Work at heights, use a ladder + HS Diploma or GED Equivalent Tools Needed: + Regular & Phillips Screwdriver + Level & Tape Measure + Pliers/Snips + Hammer & Flashlight Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Davenport, IA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
