Job Title: Hindi Interpreter Location: Tacoma, onsite servicing Pierce County Job Type: Independent Contractor Position Overview: The Hindi In-Person Interpreter is responsible for facilitating onsite communication for Limited English Proficient (LEP) community and the practitioners that serve them in a variety of settings. This contract position is flexible and offers opportunities to expand your interpreting business with access to many sessions per day. Job Functions: Provide effective onsite interpreting sessions in a professional manner. Exhibit professional appearance and behavior, including punctuality and preparedness. Adapt quickly to new and changing situations. Adhere to interpreter ethical standards and procedural requirements specific to interpreting context. Demonstrate commitment to cultural sensitivity and working in a diverse environment. Respect and understand LEP clients, their culture, dialect, beliefs, and preferences. Maintain a strong aptitude and passion for customer service and interpreting. Speak clearly in both languages with proper pronunciation, enunciation, and polite expressions. Render accurate concepts and meanings according to interpreter protocol. Qualifications: Fluent in both source and target languages with strong verbal communication skills (Hindi to English and vice versa). Excellent listening and retention skills for high accuracy during interpretation. Successful completion of a proficiency assessment or possession of a national certification. Knowledge of code of ethics and standards of practice (IMIA, NBCMI, NCIHC). Must be at least 18 years old. Preferred Qualifications: Ability to read and write in the requested languages. Degrees or certifications in interpreting practices. National Medical Interpreter Certification by CCHI, NBCMI, or DSHS. Accredited Medical Interpreting Training courses (e.g., ALTA, MITS, Bridging the Gap, MiTio, Cross-Cultural training, 40-hour accredited medical courses).
